gOS in VMWare under Vista

Postby gOS_beginner on Fri Aug 07, 2009 2:50 pm

Hallo,

now I run gOS in VMWare, it works fine!
But I can't access to my Vista-filesystem, it is still unvisiable.
How can I get access?
Must I mount it? And if yes, how?

Thanks for help

Which VMware product are you using? Workstation? Server? Player? In general you have two options:

1. With Player and Workstation, you can access the host file system using 'Shared Folders'. It's common to share out the 'My' folders underneath your user home directory.

2. Use standard network sharing technology (Windows sharing)

Have you installed VMware Tools ?
You can copy and paste between the Host and the guest system when VMware Tools is installed 8-)

Click on "VM" -- > "Install VMware Tools"
Now the VMware Player will put in a Installation CD into Guest System CD drive.

VMware Tools installation file needs some applications to be installed on the gOS 3.1 Gadgeds guest system
before it will run correctly.

On the konsole (terminal with root access) do install :

apt-get install gcc
apt-get install rpm
apt-get install kernel-source
apt-get install make
apt-get install libtool
apt-get install automake
apt-get install m4
apt-get install autoconf

Now VMware Tools Intstallation should run without errors, it does on my system.

I made a Video on YouTube of the full installation process:
